In 2017, the girls linked up for NYC Fashion Week, where during a networking session, Ayanna jokingly introduced herself and Delaila as "the non-corporate girls."

They shared a look—a light bulb had simultaneously gone off. Ayanna and Delaila had an honest conversation about feeling stagnant in their current professional space and how creativity, cultivation, collaboration and change were necessary. So, they took action.

Non-Corporate Girls was officially born.

Let's take a step back and rewind for a second, so you can understand how this friendship—and NCG—came to be.

Many moons ago, Ayanna and Delaila met backstage at a NYC Fashion Week show, where the two connected over mutual friends, New York roots…and being the only Black and Brown girls in the room.

Throughout the years, the founders have changed numerous jobs, hustles (and for Delaila, even locations at one point!) but they've continued to hold space for each other along the way. Their similar passion and drive has always kept them in sync—as both accountability partners, and as friends.
